How to decided a trace width?

A few gerber that we recieved,the trace width was not enough to build,many engineers unsure how to set up the trace width. Width is regularly decided by the current signal carries,for a minimum width RCYPCB would recommend more than 4mil,if you have to design any fineline in PCB,you can set the finelins down to 3mil,but please try to set the trace width as bigger as you can. The bigger trace width is helpful smooth production,the fineline will cause higher failure rate in manufacture and higher costs in purchasing. For the thin trace width,you can add teardrops to the connections of tracks and pads.Teardrops are useful for high voltage/amperage traces. A common question about prepreg thickness

Today our customer(Poland) told me that he is designing a 8 layer PCB that with 100ohm impedance controlled. He has calculated the layer stack-up on Polar si9000 for defining the dielectric parameters, he asked me that he want to make sure that if he can define any prepreg thickness to us(PCB houses), or do we have standard thicknesses? I answered him the prepreg have standard thickness,and you'd better to choose normal prepreg,because we don't have any special prepreg in stock for niche market. Anyway,all of our customers could define the prepreg thickness and type in fabrication spec. If we do not have prepreg with required thickness or types, we will make very small change(by Engineering Query) to meet the layer stack-up and impedance requirements....

How to choose material for layer stack-up of multilayer PCB?

When someone works on a multilayer PCB project,they have to calculate a stack-up for that PCB. Some of them may have some questions about how to choose material for layer stack-up of multilayer PCB? For example,using Isola 370HR for a 4L project,assumed the finished board thickness is 1.6mm+/-10%,we can choose cores with 40 mils thickness. But there are 3 ways to choose prepregs (woven glass) for the dielectric layer with each 8mil: 3x1080, 2x2116, 1x7628. Their thickness is not too much different, and all of them could meet requirements impedance. How could we decide which one should be used? RCYPCB suggest to choose 2x2116,it's a good choice, it is more common material and with opulent resin, save your time and money,and assured PCB quality.
